The challenge
Financial advisers guiding clients into retirement face a question that looks simple and is hard to answer: will the money last? Each plan has to balance essential living costs, lifestyle goals, super and pension entitlements, and inflation against returns nobody can predict, while staying inside the compliance rules set by the adviser's licensee. Yet most advisers still build these plans in spreadsheets and disconnected modelling tools. They re-key client data for each scenario, find it hard to show clients how risk plays out over time, and spend hours turning results into client-ready reports.
The solution
For Innova, one of Australia’s leading asset management companies Margins developed a AI goals-based retirement planning platform that takes advisers from client discovery to a finished, branded report in one guided flow. Advisers record personal details, assets, income sources and cash flow goals, set a risk profile, and let the platform assign the client's wealth to a three-bucket strategy: Safety for the next six years of spending, Lifestyle for years seven to ten, and Future for growth beyond that. A Monte Carlo simulation engine models thousands of market paths in real time, showing good, average and bad scenarios, the probability of meeting each goal, and the median age at which wealth runs out. Advisers can compare several simulations side by side, model couples and Age Pension eligibility, apply licensee-approved assumption profiles, and export personalised reports.
