## The challenge

Gamers and developers often face fragmented experiences when accessing and publishing games. Existing platforms like Steam and Battle.net are powerful but overwhelming, with complex navigation, limited transparency for developers, and little integration with emerging technologies like blockchain. For new platforms like Rune, the challenge was to create an environment that encourages developers to publish while giving players a smooth, modern, and trustworthy alternative to the incumbents. Without a streamlined, scalable, and secure platform, Rune risked losing user adoption and failing to differentiate in a competitive market.

## The solution

Margins developed the Rune Game Launcher, a cross-platform ecosystem with a scalable microservices backend, a Windows desktop app, and web portals for users, developers, and admins. The platform streamlines game publishing, purchasing, and play while integrating social features, secure payments, and blockchain wallet login — a modern alternative to legacy game distribution platforms.
